Bright Dimension was founded by Oliver Hartley, with over 25 years’ experience, a veteran in the renewable energy industry. This long-time commitment to renewable energy fuels the commitment of Bright Dimension to shape the transition to a clean energy future. The varying teams of experts brought together by Bright Dimension will enable our clients to achieve their goals. The variable teams comprise experts in their fields, who collaboratively work as part of a network dedicated to delivering success for our clients.

Dr Oliver Hartley leads the Bright Dimension team. Within the field of clean energy, he has worked in research, technology development and commercialisation, merger and acquisitions, business structuring and start-ups for over 25 years.

In 2021, Dr Oliver Hartley successfully sold his company Epho Pty Ltd to Australia’s largest energy retailer AGL. Oliver had founded Epho seven years earlier and the company had become one of the most successful solar companies in Australia, designing, constructing and operating large commercial and industrial solar systems for some of Australia’s biggest clients, like Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Goodman, Charter Hall, Dexus, Brisbane Airport Corporation, DHL and many more.

Prior to Epho, Oliver had established Q Cells Australia as a leading, premium brand module supplier in Australia within 3 years from inception. In Europe, he was the chairman of VHF Technology in Switzerland, whose technology was successfully developed and sold to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and a board member of a number of thin-film module manufacturers (Solibro, a CIGS thin-film module manufacturer from Sweden, Sunfilm AG a silicon based thin film module manufacturer from Germany and CGS, a crystalline silicon on glass module manufacturer originally from Australia).

As CEO, Oliver successfully managed the transition of Calyxo, a CdTe thin-film module company, from research to full commercialisation and mass manufacturing between 2007 and 2010. As the head of the strategic business development department for Q Cells, Oliver was responsible for M&A deals of up to $2bn in value.

Oliver has a PhD, which he carried out at the Photovoltaic Special Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, as well as an MBA in international management from the University of London. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Oliver is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee for the School for Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at UNSW.
